Building Your Dream Home from Scratch!
This fall, we invite you and your family to embark on an extraordinary and playful art project at Tai Kwun - Open the Box: Home Sweet Home. Build a miniature cardboard town, choose a plot, purchase a house, interact with neighbors, and address community issues together through mail services and a community radio station. Your children can gain a deeper understanding of what it means to build a community from the ground up. You'll see firsthand how your contributions shape the ever-changing dynamics of this experimental community on 6 October 2024.

On Home Sweet Home

Since 2006, Home Sweet Home has created international communities, and has been presented in such cultural spaces as Barbican Centre, Southbank Centre and Battersea Arts Centre in London, Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, Kyoto Experiment in Kyoto and Berliner Festspiele in Berlin.

On Open the Box
Open the Box is a groundbreaking programme taking place this fall at Tai Kwun Contemporary, aiming to explore alternative and innovative approaches to community engagement and shape the future of museums. Gallery and white cube spaces are typically platforms for curators' and artists' creativity. But during this special event, the roles will be reversed—the gallery will feature collective works created by artists, visitors and participants.
