The balustrades along the verandas of Tai Kwun’s Barrack Block have been an iconic and essential part of the historic building since its completion in 1864. With this heritage DIY workshop, everyone from the family can unleash their creativity and make, decorate and bring home their very own mini baluster that can also be used as a candleholder. Apart from this hands-on experience, this part of the event also includes a tour to lend context of how the balustrades were originally constructed and later restored, highlighting the materials used, and their craftsmanship and design.
