Lai See and Gifts in Chinese New Year (issued Monday, 2 February)
2 Feb 2026
We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude for Members’ contributions to the Chinese New Year Gratuity Fund. Members’ recognition of our team’s dedicated service is deeply appreciated.
As we approach the joyous celebration of the Chinese New Year, we understand that Members may also wish to extend appreciation to our staff through the traditional giving of “lai see” red packets. We deeply value this cherished tradition which brings joy to both Members and staff.
The giving of lai see is entirely discretionary. Whilst Members’ appreciation has already been more than amply demonstrated through the thoughtful contributions to the Chinese New Year Gratuity Fund, should Members wish to take part in this tradition, our staff at Clubhouses and Racecourses in both Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland are permitted to receive these tokens during the first 15 days of Chinese New Year, from 17 February to 3 March 2026.
In addition, to protect our employees from violation of the Hong Kong’s Prevention of Bribery Ordinance, they are required to declare any lai see over HKD/RMB 500. Any excess amount will be contributed to the Chinese New Year Gratuity Fund, embracing the spirit of shared blessings and celebration. We have also instructed all employees that solicitation of lai see is prohibited.
As we prepare to welcome the Year of the Horse, please allow us to express our sincere appreciation for your continued trust and support. We remain committed to providing you with an exceptional Membership experience at all times.
