A Blaze of Blooms at Hong Kong Flower Show
15 May 2025

Supported by the Club’s Charities Trust since 2013, the Hong Kong Flower Show was staged by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in March at Victoria Park this year.
This year’s show was themed “Ablaze with Glory” with cosmos as its theme flower and was part of the Club’s 140th anniversary celebrations. As the show’s major sponsor, the Club supported a series of related educational programmes and activities that allowed citizens of all ages to learn about urban greening while enjoying the blooms.

Among the Club-supported programmes were the “Jockey Club Student Drawing Competition” and the “Jockey Club Mosaiculture Display by Students Activity”. The latter attracted over 1,100 students from 38 schools to contribute to a spectacular horticultural display that featured two galloping horses.

Aiming to raise awareness for urban greening and cultivate an interest in gardening, the “Jockey Club One Person, One Flower Scheme” distributed free flower seedlings to participating students. Under the “‘Give the Flowers a New Home!’ Jockey Club Flower Re-planting Scheme”, flowers from the show suitable for replanting were given to participating schools, charitable organisations and non-profit organisations.
At the show, the Jockey Club Community Green Playground featured various facilities and games themed around nature and conservation. Members of the Club’s CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team served as playground facilitators and disseminated messages about conservation to children of all ages, while guiding them around different playground equipment made from recycled and reused materials.

With the Club’s support, the show was also able to provide free transport for senior citizens, disabled groups, students and underprivileged families, and organise guided tours during the show period.
