Four-Year-Old Classic Series Prizemoney Reaches New High

Invincible Ibis’s record breaking victory in this season’s BMW Hong Kong Derby again underlined the quality and international standing of Hong Kong’s Four Year Old Classic Series.

In recognition of the Series’ critical role in developing elite racing talent and to further reward Owners’ investment, the Club has announced an increase, bringing the total prizemoney across the 2027 Four Year Old Classic Series to a record HK$56 million!

Prizemoney for the 2027 Four Year Old Classic Series will see a HK$4 million increase across the three races:

• Hong Kong Classic Mile (1600m): HK$14 million (an increase of HK$1 million)
• Hong Kong Classic Cup (1800m): HK$14 million (an increase of HK$1 million)
• BMW Hong Kong Derby (2000m): HK$28 million (an increase of HK$2 million)

Staged annually for emerging stars, the Four-Year-Old Classic Series attracts Hong Kong’s elite equine talent. Champions such as Golden Sixty, Romantic Warrior and Voyage Bubble have all made their mark in recent years—proof that today’s four-year-old could be tomorrow’s headline act.

To sweep all three legs, as Rapper Dragon and Golden Sixty did, is to cement a place in racing history. It highlights what is possible when ambition meets opportunity. With record prizemoney on offer for the Classic Series, the incentives have never been greater.
