The Taste of Triumph
Sebastien Chevalier, Head of Wine

Recommendation: Château Latour 2005; Château Latour 2003 (100 points by Robert Parker)

I had the chance to savour a bottle of Château Latour 2005, boasting a remarkable 19.5/20 rating by Jancis Robinson (noteworthy as she is a critic known for never awarding a perfect 20/20 score). Aptly, it exuded near-perfection, from its enchanting aroma to a harmonious explosion of flavours that lingered endlessly. This wine, a true gem, is best relished in good company. Similarly, the Château Latour 2003 dazzles with its intricate complexity. Slightly more lavish than its 2005 counterpart, it embodies an "iron feast in velvet gloves." These two wines are indeed ones to fantasise about!

Tyler Ho, Restaurant Manager (Centurion Restaurant), Sha Tin Clubhouse

Recommendation: Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle 26 Grande Cuvée (100 points by James Suckling)

Champagne vintages uphold a legacy of excellence, demonstrating a rich diversity in style, expression, and quality within each unique bottle. Grand Siècle goes beyond a single vintage, aspiring to recreate the essence of a "perfect year" — an ambition that nature alone cannot fulfil. Its captivating blend comprises 65 per cent of the 2012 vintage, 25 per cent of the 2008, and 10 per cent of the 2007, harmonising eight grand crus into a symphony of flavours.

Ken Chu, Beverage Manager, Happy Valley Racecourse echoes Tyler's choice for the top pick in wine by citing it as number one in James Halliday's 2023 top 100 list.

This champagne is a true standout. With its full-to-medium body and refreshing balance, it's a taste that lingers. Excitingly, we'll be featuring this exquisite champagne alongside caviar at an exclusive event in November. Keep an eye out for updates!

Recommendation: E. Guigal ‘La Mouline’, Côte-Rôtie, Rhône, France, 1999 (100 points by Robert Parker)

“La-La-La” surely is not a strange term for wine enthusiasts, denoting three renowned lieux-dits in the region that have garnered high praise from critics, often receiving perfect scores. The ‘La Mouline’ 1999 is currently showcasing exceptional qualities. Its captivating bouquet exudes a blend of spiced red and black fruits intertwined with nuanced ageing aromas, harmoniously integrated to reveal an elegant yet intense profile. With a silky texture and finesse, this wine offers a truly delightful sensory journey – a joy to savour and celebrate.
